Sculpture Casting Services goes Solar to offset energy costs

Sculpture Casting Services are specialist in the casting of bronze artwork and statues.  They are famous for their 9m tall statue of late president and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, which is now located at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, South Africa.  With their new art gallery and smelter opening near the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, making use of solar enabled them to partially reach their vision of being environmentally aware by reducing their overall carbon footprint.

Since casting of bronze is an energy intensive industry and with the ever-increasing price of electricity, making use of solar enabled them to not only reduce their carbon footprint, see their return of investment within 4-5 years, but also enabled them to have an uninterrupted supply of energy as they were constantly operating near their available capacity.  The first 20kWp of 130kWp has just been completed by xRg Solutions in South Africa, with 20 pcs APsystems YC1000 true 3-phase microinverters installed and further expansion to be done throughout the year.

APsystems’ YC1000 microinverters have been selected by xRG solutions as the best inverter’s choice for this project.  From an investment standpoint, APsystems microinverters solution clearly stood out providing key advantages such as simple design, individual module optimization, good project flexibility and expandability, and 20 years warranty, giving the needed confidence to the client.
